Summer Game Fest — 2025
Sequels were everywhere this year. Mortal Shell 2, Code Vein 2 and Atomic Heart 2 all turned up, with a fresh Death Stranding 2 slice and Onimusha: Way of the Sword swinging back into view. Arc Raiders and a Wu-Tang game kept things nicely weird. Here's what stood out.

Mortal Shell 2
The gritty soulslike with its interesting-but-not-quite-enough shell mechanic returns with guns and grotesque enemies in this sequel, ready to launch in 2026.
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach
Kojima dropped a new clip, and it's about what you'd expect. Neil and Lucy share a mysterious exchange - looks cool though. Just wanna play it already.
Code Vein 2
Wasn't a huge fan of the first one, but always keen for more of the genre. Anime gothic soulslike is back. We get some glimpses of bosses, and some of the character designs are really cool. Coming 2026.
Mouse P.I. For Hire
Cartoon noir FPS with a talking mouse and... Troy Baker, of course. Looks silly but slick, and it’s coming late 2025.
Atomic Heart 2
Huh, cool. Atomic Heart 2 seems less a sequel, more a fever dream redux. Still bizarre, and now leaning heavier into RPG stuff, and… I'm keen! Wasn't bowled over by the first one, but love their visual design and worldbuilding.
The Cube
Not sure what to make of this one, but seems interesting. Set in the Atomic [Heart] universe, this MMOFPS throws us into a massive 'ever-shifting cube'. Biomes, guns, and all the weirdness you expect from this lot.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword
Doesn't show much - and still no release date - but the very quick look at gameplay looks fun!
Arc Raiders
Arc Raiders has a release date! The extraction shooter which recently had a great closed beta period finally drops October 30. It's been a long wait, but we're nearly there.
LEGO Voyagers
I was a big fan Builders Journey, so the same with two players and seemingly the same amount of charm sounds great. LEGO Voyagers hits all major platforms soon.
Lies of P: Overture
Surprise! First DLC for Lies of P shadow-dropped during the show. More gothic action, more rage I'm sure. Available now.
Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree
Very clearly a Hades-like; the bright, bold isometric Towa launches September 19 - with magical creatures and furry anime vibes, I'll give it a go.
Acts of Blood
I remember this one getting my attention a long time ago, seeing the protagonist with Indomie Mi Goreng in their kitchen cupboard, so I was always going to play it... but Indonesian dev Eksil Team have now dropped a slick look at their brutal brawler with echoes of Sifu. Releases 2026.
Wildgate
Seems like Sea of Thieves, but in space? Loot, battle, survive - yadda yadda. Wildgate open beta runs June 9-16, full launch July 22.
Wu-Tang: Rise of the Deceiver
Alright then, a Wu-Tang game! We'll be saving Shaolin, with Ghostface Killah leading the charge. Flashy style, co-op action, surely a good soundtrack. Coming to PC.
Into the Unwell
Three troubled souls drop into a well in this roguelike rubberhosey fever dream. Bizarre art, stranger vibes - cool. No release date.
Stranger Than Heaven
From the Like a Dragon devs, this 1940s-set detective brawler mixes fists with noir mystery. Typically over-the-top, stylish, and bloody. Looks fun.
